Just a day before the anticipated Diwali box office clash, Saudi Arabia has banned the release of two major Bollywood films, Singham Again and Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3, which were set for a November 1 debut. The decision to block these films was based on content deemed incompatible with the country’s strict cultural and religious standards.
‘Singham Again’ Faces Ban Over Religious Conflict Depictions Directed by Rohit Shetty, Singham Again stars Ajay Devgn, Kareena Kapoor Khan, and Ranveer Singh and has been prohibited in Saudi Arabia due to its portrayal of religious conflict. The film, which was expected to draw large audiences, has also faced a delay in Singapore, where it is now scheduled for release on November 7 due to unfinished censorship reviews.
‘Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3’ Banned for Homosexual References The horror-comedy Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3, directed by Anees Bazmee and starring Kartik Aaryan, Vidya Balan, and Madhuri Dixit, has also been barred in Saudi Arabia. The ban stems from references to homosexuality in the film, as authorities strictly regulate content that conflicts with conservative social values.
Not an Isolated Incident for Indian Films in the Gulf This is not the first instance of Indian films facing regional bans. Salman Khan’s Tiger 3 encountered similar restrictions in Gulf countries for controversial portrayals. Saudi Arabia’s stringent censorship policies demonstrate its ongoing commitment to controlling cinematic content that may clash with cultural or religious values in the region.
