Veteran Indian filmmaker Rakesh Roshan has confirmed his decision to step away from directing, choosing instead to focus on producing the highly anticipated superhero film Krrish 4, starring his son Hrithik Roshan.
“I Won’t Be Directing Again”
In a recent interview, Rakesh Roshan stated, “I don’t think I’ll be directing any further. But I’ll surely be announcing Krrish 4 very soon.”
Siddharth Anand Fuels Speculation on Krrish 4
Earlier this year, rumors about Krrish 4 gained momentum when filmmaker Siddharth Anand, known for hits like War and Fighter, shared a fan-made image of Hrithik Roshan in his superhero costume on X (formerly Twitter). His caption, “He’s coming back,” along with “Yup he is,” added to the buzz about the upcoming film.

The Krrish Franchise: A Legacy of Superhero Cinema
The Krrish franchise, which began in 2003 with the sci-fi classic Koi Mil Gaya, has become a cornerstone of Indian superhero films. Directed by Rakesh Roshan, the series transitioned into the superhero genre with Krrish (2006) and Krrish 3 (2013). Hrithik Roshan has been the franchise’s central figure, portraying Rohit in Koi Mil Gaya and later his son Krishna, also known as Krrish.
The franchise boasts an impressive ensemble cast, with Preity Zinta, Priyanka Chopra, Rekha, Naseeruddin Shah, Vivek Oberoi, and Kangana Ranaut playing pivotal roles across the series.
Celebrating Iconic Films: Re-Releases Planned
Rakesh Roshan is also set to re-release some of his blockbuster films. The 1995 hit Karan Arjun will return to theaters on November 22, while discussions are underway for the re-release of his 1988 revenge drama Khoon Bhari Maang, starring Rekha and Kabir Bedi.

25 Years of Kaho Naa Pyaar Hai
Looking ahead, Rakesh plans to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the iconic Kaho Naa Pyaar Hai in January 2025. Reflecting on his legacy, Roshan shared, “Every film might not work, but surely, Kaho Naa Pyaar Hai completing 25 years is a milestone. I had to pre-pone the Karan Arjun release because January is a crowded month for films.”
Fans eagerly await more announcements from the legendary filmmaker as he continues to shape the future of Indian cinema.
