The Federal Emergency Management Agency, along with state and local partners in Florida, has provided more than 11 billion dollars in assistance to support communities and individuals affected by Hurricanes Helene and Milton.

According to FEMA, this funding includes a combination of grants, reimbursements to local governments, and flood-insurance payments to help accelerate Florida’s recovery. More than 1.8 billion dollars has been allocated to the state to cover the costs of debris removal, emergency protective actions, and repairs to damaged critical infrastructure.

Clearing storm debris remains one of the largest and most demanding parts of the recovery process. Nearly 590 million dollars has been designated specifically for debris-removal efforts, helping to clear more than 31.6 million cubic yards of storm-related waste from affected zones. In addition to community recovery, FEMA has also provided direct support to individuals, with more than 1.7 billion dollars going to Floridians to help cover uninsured losses caused by the two hurricanes.

As part of housing support efforts, 649 families have received temporary housing units from FEMA. More than 200 families have already moved into permanent housing, and eight households have chosen to purchase their FEMA-provided units as a long-term living solution.

Additional financial assistance for survivors includes over 601 million dollars in funding for home repairs benefiting more than 66,000 families. Another 161 million dollars has been distributed in rental assistance to nearly 30,000 families in need of short-term housing.

Flood insurance has also played a key role in the recovery process. Through the National Flood Insurance Program, approximately 7.5 billion dollars has been paid out to more than 76,000 families. This total includes 6.3 billion dollars for over 54,000 claims related to Hurricane Helene and 1.2 billion dollars for more than 21,000 claims associated with Hurricane Milton.
