Meta has rolled out a series of exciting new features for Facebook Messenger, significantly improving the app’s calling capabilities. Among the most notable upgrades are HD video calls, as well as background noise suppression and voice isolation, designed to enhance the quality and clarity of voice and video calls—something that was much needed for a smoother communication experience.
Improved Call Quality: HD Video, Noise Suppression, and Voice Isolation
One of the standout features is the introduction of HD video calls. HD will be enabled by default for calls made over Wi-Fi, ensuring clearer and sharper visuals. For mobile data calls, users can manually toggle HD video on in the settings. Additionally, background noise suppression and voice isolation features will help reduce unwanted distractions, creating a more immersive and high-quality call experience. These features can be activated via the call settings to tailor the call to your environment.
New Features for Unanswered Calls and AI Video Backgrounds
Messenger is also introducing the ability to leave audio or video messages when friends don’t pick up. If your call goes unanswered, you can easily tap “record message” to send a personal audio or video message.

In addition to these features, Messenger will soon offer AI-powered backgrounds for video calls. These backgrounds will allow users to add a fun or creative touch to their calls. To activate this, simply tap the effects icon in the sidebar during a video call.
New Siri Integration for iOS Users
For iOS users, Meta is adding more convenience with Siri integration. You can now ask Siri to help you make Messenger calls or send messages, making it easier than ever to stay connected.
These updates signal a significant step forward in improving Messenger’s functionality, making it easier to stay in touch with friends and family. Whether you’re making HD video calls or leaving creative messages, Meta is working to ensure that Messenger provides a more engaging and high-quality communication experience.
