The world’s tallest woman, Rumeysa Gelgi, and the world’s shortest woman, Jyoti Amge, came together for afternoon tea in London to celebrate Guinness World Records Day.
Height Milestones
Rumeysa Gelgi, measuring 215.16 centimeters (7 feet 0.7 inches), and Jyoti Amge, who stands at just 62.8 centimeters (2 feet 0.7 inches), met at the Savoy Hotel, as announced by Guinness World Records (GWR) on Wednesday. Despite a significant height difference of 152.36 centimeters (5 feet), the two women reportedly enjoyed their time together.
Common Interests
Gelgi remarked on their shared interests, stating, “We do have things in common. We both love make-up, self-care, jewellery, and doing our nails.” She also noted the challenge of making eye contact due to their height difference but expressed her delight in the meeting. Amge added that she was “so happy” to meet Gelgi.

Rumeysa Gelgi: Record Holder
Gelgi, a 27-year-old web designer from Turkey, was recognized as the tallest living woman in 2021. Her height is attributed to Weaver syndrome, a rare condition affecting only 27 individuals worldwide. In addition to her height record, Gelgi holds titles for the largest hands on a woman (24.93 centimeters), the longest back on a living woman (59.90 centimeters), and the longest ears on a woman (average size 9.58 centimeters). She has also starred in a GWR documentary, “Rumeysa: Walking Tall,” which chronicles her experiences meeting other record holders across the US.
Jyoti Amge: A Unique Presence
Jyoti Amge, an actress and media personality from India, has a bone growth disorder called achondroplasia, which affects limb development. Despite her small stature, Amge has made a significant impact on social media and appeared in the US television series “American Horror Story: Freak Show” as Ma Petite, earning her the title of the shortest actress ever. She has also featured on the Italian TV show “Lo Show Dei Record.”

Celebrating Differences
Craig Glenday, GWR’s editor-in-chief, emphasized the importance of celebrating differences. He expressed that by bringing together these iconic women, they could share their unique perspectives on life.
Both Gelgi and Amge have been honored as GWR ICONS, a new category introduced in the 2025 edition of the Guinness World Records book.
