The United States Department of State reaffirmed on Wednesday that claims of American involvement in the removal of former Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan are unfounded.
During a daily press briefing, department spokesperson Matthew Miller stated, “As we’ve clarified multiple times, the legal proceedings involving the former prime minister are issues for Pakistan’s courts to address. Allegations suggesting US involvement in his ouster are simply false.”

Miller also highlighted that he has addressed this matter “numerous times from this podium,” adding that Pakistan’s political landscape “is ultimately for the Pakistani people to determine, in line with their own laws and constitution.”
In response to a question regarding social media criticism of members of Congress who had written to President Biden calling for Imran Khan’s release, Miller commented, “We are unaware of who is responsible for circulating such information, but if individuals wish to discuss concerns with US officials—whether from the executive branch or Congress—they should address the issues on their merits, not by commenting on personal factors such as religion or sexual orientation.”
