U.S. President-elect Donald Trump announced on Sunday that Tom Homan, the former acting director of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), will oversee the country’s borders in his upcoming administration. Homan is set to take on the role of “Border Czar,” which will include responsibilities related to the Southern and Northern Borders, as well as maritime and aviation security.
Homan’s New Role and Responsibilities
In a post on his Truth Social platform, Trump stated, “Homan will be in charge of our nation’s borders, including, but not limited to, the Southern Border, the Northern Border, all Maritime, and Aviation Security.” Homan, who served as ICE’s acting director for 18 months during Trump’s first term, is also being considered for the role of Secretary of Homeland Security.

Trump’s Focus on Immigration Enforcement
Trump has made cracking down on illegal immigration a cornerstone of his political platform. He has repeatedly vowed to implement mass deportations and frequently praised Homan’s tough stance on immigration during his campaign. Homan was also a vocal supporter of Trump’s immigration policies, joining campaign events to rally supporters around the issue.
Homan to Lead Deportation Efforts
In addition to overseeing border security, Trump emphasized that Homan will be tasked with leading the effort to deport illegal immigrants. The President-elect is currently meeting with potential candidates for various cabinet positions ahead of his inauguration on January 20.

Trump’s Other Key Appointments
CNN reported on Sunday that Trump has offered Republican Representative Elise Stefanik the position of U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations, marking another significant potential appointment as he prepares to form his new administration.
