Google’s annual “Year in Search” report for 2024 unveiled Pakistan’s top online interests, with sports, entertainment, food, and technology taking center stage. The report sheds light on what captivated the nation throughout the year.

Unsurprisingly, cricket topped the charts in Pakistan’s searches. Queries included the ICC T20 World Cup, Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2024 schedule, and players like Shoaib Malik.
The most-searched personalities included Iranian photographer Abbas Attar, Lebanese-American poet Etel Adnan, and Pakistani Olympic gold medalist Arshad Nadeem.

Pakistani dramas like Ishq Murshid and Kabhi Main Kabhi Tum captured significant attention, while Bollywood blockbusters such as Animal, Dunki, Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3, and Stree 2 were also highly searched. Reality shows like Bigg Boss and the eagerly awaited Mirzapur Season 3 added to the entertainment buzz.
Food searches showcased Pakistan’s love for diverse cuisines. Popular recipes included banana bread, creamy pasta, egg noodles, and peach iced tea. Local favorites like malpura pancakes and tawa kaleji (fried goat liver) also made the list.

Searches in the tech sector highlighted the growing interest in Artificial Intelligence tools like Gemini and Remaker AI. The demand for smartphones remained high, with searches for models from Infinix, Redmi, Vivo, and Apple leading the pack.
Pakistan’s “how-to” queries ranged from locating polling stations during the general elections to tips on preserving flowers. Parental advice also emerged as a significant category in search trends.
Google Country Director for Pakistan, Farhan Qureshi, emphasized that the searches reflect Pakistan’s deep-rooted traditions alongside its embrace of digital advancements.

“From the cricket pitch to the kitchen, from the silver screen to the search bar, Pakistanis are using Google to explore their passions, connect with their culture, and shape their future,” said Qureshi.
He further highlighted the role of Artificial Intelligence in redefining the search experience and expressed optimism about expanding Google’s capabilities to help Pakistanis discover more of the digital and physical world.
