Sophie Turner, renowned for her Emmy-nominated portrayal of Sansa Stark in Game of Thrones, is reportedly in discussions to take on the role of Lara Croft in Amazon’s forthcoming Tomb Raider series. This highly anticipated adaptation is spearheaded by Phoebe Waller-Bridge, the Emmy-winning creator of Fleabag, and is inspired by the legendary video game franchise. A spokesperson for Amazon MGM Studios has refrained from commenting on the ongoing negotiations.
Casting Updates
Last month, Turner was one of several actresses auditioning for the sought-after role, previously portrayed by Angelina Jolie and Alicia Vikander in film adaptations. Jennifer Salke, head of Amazon MGM, described the upcoming series as an “epic” and “globe-trotting” adventure, announcing the project earlier this year.

Waller-Bridge’s Vision
Phoebe Waller-Bridge, serving as both writer and executive producer, has shared her enthusiasm for the franchise, stating, “Lara Croft means a lot to me, as she does to many, and I can’t wait to go on this adventure.” The series is being produced by Waller-Bridge’s Wells Street Productions in collaboration with Legendary Television, Crystal Dynamics, and Amazon MGM Studios.
Turner’s Career Progression
In addition to this potential role, Sophie Turner has several upcoming projects, including the British crime drama Joan and the Prime Video series Haven. If her casting as Lara Croft is confirmed, it would represent another significant achievement in her burgeoning career.
