Prosperous Day for the Wealthy
Wednesday marked not only a significant day for Donald Trump but also a historic surge in the wealth of the world’s ten richest individuals, according to Bloomberg’s Billionaire Index.

Elon Musk Leads the Gains
The biggest beneficiary was Elon Musk, the world’s richest person and a staunch supporter of Trump, whose fortune increased by $26.5 billion, reaching $290 billion. Jeff Bezos, the founder of Amazon, saw his wealth rise by $7.1 billion just a week after defending his decision to withhold the Washington Post’s endorsement of Vice President Kamala Harris. Additionally, Oracle co-founder Larry Ellison, another Trump ally, experienced a $5.5 billion increase in his net worth.

Other Notable Increases
Other billionaires who saw gains included former Microsoft executives Bill Gates and Steve Ballmer, former Google executives Larry Page and Sergey Brin, and Berkshire Hathaway CEO Warren Buffett. Although these individuals did not endorse a candidate this year, they have historically supported Democratic candidates and initiatives. Bloomberg highlighted that this was the “biggest daily increase” in wealth recorded since the index’s inception in 2012.

Market Rally and Investor Optimism
The stock market rallied as the election concluded quickly, with investors optimistic about Trump’s potential to implement a new era of deregulation and pro-business policies. “There is this huge perception of a business-friendly, tax-friendly regime coming into place, especially with them winning the Senate,” noted Michael Block, chief operating officer at AgentSmyth.

Trump Media & Technology Group Surges
Trump’s social media venture, Trump Media & Technology Group, also experienced a significant rise in stock value, soaring as much as 35% at one point after media projections indicated Trump’s electoral victory. However, the stock’s gains eventually faded. As the dominant shareholder in this conservative social media platform, Trump briefly saw the value of his 114.75 million shares reach approximately $5.3 billion, up from $3.9 billion at the close of trading on Election Day. Despite these gains, the company continues to face challenges, including minimal revenue and ongoing financial losses.
