Pakistan has officially reopened its airspace over Lahore and Karachi after a 48-hour suspension prompted by rising regional tensions. The Pakistan Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) issued an updated notification on Wednesday morning confirming the resumption of operations in the affected zones.

The temporary closure was part of a broader set of operational restrictions put in place following heightened hostilities in the region. Passengers have been urged by the CAA to remain vigilant and stay in close coordination with their respective airlines, as scheduling and routing decisions now rest solely with the carriers.

Karachi Airport and its surrounding areas have been designated as a red zone with restricted access.

The airspace shutdown came into effect late Tuesday night, following an attack attributed to India. In response, Pakistan suspended all incoming and outgoing flights, while several international airlines also halted operations to the country.

Aviation sources confirmed the suspension lasted 48 hours, disrupting both international and regional flight paths. The impact was widely felt across multiple carriers.

Flight tracking platform Flightradar24 reported numerous aircraft rerouting to avoid Pakistani airspace during the suspension. Airlines including Finnair, Emirates, Turkish Cargo, and Saudia were among those observed altering their routes.
