In the wake of the devastating flash floods that struck Central Texas, the Pakistani and American communities in Houston came together in a heartfelt show of solidarity and remembrance. The Pakistan Association of Greater Houston (PAGH) organized a condolence and prayer gathering on Sunday evening at the Pakistan Center, located at 12638 Bissonnet Street.
The event began at 6:30 PM and was attended by Consul General of Pakistan Mr. Muhammad Aftab Chaudhry, along with a large number of community members. The gathering provided an opportunity to collectively grieve, reflect, and offer prayers for the lives lost and the families affected by the tragic floods in Texas Hill Country.
In his remarks, Consul General Chaudhry conveyed deep sorrow over the immense loss of life and destruction caused by the floods. “Our hearts and prayers are with all those affected by this tragedy,” he said. “We extend our deepest sympathies to the families who have lost loved ones, and we stand beside the survivors during this difficult time.”

Siraj Narsi, President of PAGH, also addressed the audience with a message of comfort and unity. “We pray for the departed souls and hope their families find the strength to navigate this immense pain,” he said. “The entire Houston community stands in support and solidarity with the victims.”
The prayer meeting was open to all, emphasizing inclusivity and compassion beyond cultural and religious boundaries. Attendees offered silent prayers and listened to moving reflections that highlighted the importance of unity, resilience, and community compassion during times of disaster.
The presence of the Consul General underscored the Pakistani government’s commitment to supporting its diaspora and engaging with broader humanitarian causes in the U.S. His participation was a powerful reminder of the bonds that tie communities together, especially during times of shared grief. PAGH continues to encourage community members to support local relief efforts and extend any help possible to those impacted by the flooding.
