Navjot Kaur, wife of Congress leader Navjot Singh Sidhu, has been served a $100 million (approximately Rs 850 crore) legal notice by the Chhattisgarh Civil Society (CCS). The notice challenges claims made by Sidhu regarding her recovery from Stage 4 cancer using “traditional” remedies.
Sidhu’s Controversial Statement
On November 21, Navjot Singh Sidhu revealed that his wife had overcome Stage 4 cancer, despite being given only 40 days to live by doctors. He credited her recovery to a specialised diet and lifestyle changes, controversially describing cancer as “inflammation” caused by foods like milk, wheat, refined flour, and sugar.

Medical Experts Condemn the Claims
Sidhu’s assertions sparked backlash from health professionals and CCS. Dr. Kuldeep Solanki, Convener of CCS, warned that promoting unverified cancer treatments could mislead patients into abandoning proven medical therapies, potentially putting their lives at risk.
Legal Action by CCS
The CCS legal notice demands a detailed explanation for Sidhu’s statements and warns against endorsing treatments lacking scientific validation. The organisation stressed the dangers of spreading misinformation about serious health conditions like cancer.
Sidhu Responds to Criticism
Amid growing criticism, Sidhu released a clarification video on Monday. He explained that the dietary and lifestyle practices followed by his wife were developed in consultation with medical professionals and were intended as complementary to conventional cancer treatments, not as a replacement.
