Aliya Fakhri, sister of Bollywood actress Nargis Fakhri, has been arrested for allegedly setting a fire that killed her ex-boyfriend Edward Jacobs (35) and his friend Anastasia Star Ettienne (33) in Queens, New York. The incident occurred on November 2 at a two-story garage in the Jamaica area.
According to reports, Aliya allegedly arrived at the location early in the morning, yelling, “You’re all going to die today,” before setting the garage on fire. Witnesses discovered the blaze after hearing her voice. Ettienne, who was downstairs, reportedly went back into the building to rescue Jacobs, who was asleep. Tragically, both succumbed to smoke inhalation and thermal injuries before they could escape.

Legal Charges and Possible Sentence
Aliya, 43, faces four counts of first-degree murder, four counts of second-degree murder, and arson. If convicted, she could be sentenced to life imprisonment. Her next court appearance is scheduled for December 9.
History of Threats and a Troubled Relationship
Jacobs’ mother revealed that her son’s relationship with Aliya ended a year prior, but Aliya allegedly continued to pursue him. Witnesses have reported that Aliya previously threatened to burn down Jacobs’ house after their breakup, indicating her inability to cope with the rejection.
Mother Defends Aliya
While actress Nargis Fakhri has not commented on the case, their mother has spoken out in Aliya’s defense. She described her daughter as a caring individual, saying, “I don’t think she would be killing someone. She was a person who cared for everybody and tried to help everyone.”
The mother also revealed that Aliya had been struggling with opioid addiction following a dental mishap, which may have influenced her behavior.
No Statement from Nargis Fakhri
As the case unfolds, Nargis Fakhri has remained silent on the matter, while the charges against her sister continue to draw significant media attention.
