Nobel Laureate and globally acclaimed human rights activist Malala Yousafzai has expressed deep concern over the rising tensions between Pakistan and India, urging both nations to exercise restraint, wisdom, and actively promote peace.
In her official statement, Malala said:
“Hatred and violence are our shared enemies. Pakistan and India must take immediate, sincere, and effective steps to de-escalate this growing tension.”
She also appealed to the international community, emphasizing the need to foster diplomacy, dialogue, and mutual understanding to ensure long-lasting peace in South Asia.
She stressed:
“Peace is the only path to our collective security, development, and prosperity.”
Malala’s message comes at a critical time when, during the night between Tuesday and Wednesday, the Indian military launched unprovoked attacks targeting civilian areas in Kotli, Muzaffarabad, and Bagh in Azad Kashmir, as well as the Pakistani cities of Muridke and Ahmedpur Sharqia in Punjab. These tragic assaults led to the destruction of two mosques, the martyrdom of 31 Pakistani civilians including two children, and left 51 others injured.
In response, Pakistan’s armed forces retaliated with precision and strength, successfully shooting down three Rafale jets, a MiG-29, a Sukhoi SU-30 fighter aircraft, and a combat drone, inflicting significant losses on the aggressor.
Amidst this grave backdrop, Malala’s heartfelt appeal for peace serves as a beacon of hope, reminding the world that despite differences, only dialogue and brotherhood can prevent devastation and secure a better future for the region.
