French President Emmanuel Macron Speaks Out on the Hit Series’ Future
French President Emmanuel Macron has expressed his strong desire to keep Emily in Paris in the city it’s named after, despite the character’s recent move to Rome in the fourth season of the Netflix hit series.
“We will fight hard. And we will ask them to remain in Paris! Emily in Paris in Rome doesn’t make sense,” Macron told Variety in a recent interview.
Emily Moves to Rome in Latest Season
In the latest season, Emily, played by Lily Collins, relocates from Paris to Rome for work. While the show continues to captivate audiences worldwide, the shift in location has raised questions about its future.
A Proud Moment for Macron’s Wife
Macron also shared his pride over his wife, Brigitte, who made a cameo appearance in the most recent season of Emily in Paris. “I was super proud, and she was very happy to do it,” he said, highlighting that even though her screen time was brief, it was a meaningful moment for her.
Boosting France’s Image Through Popular Culture
Macron also emphasized the positive impact Emily in Paris has had on the image of France, especially in terms of its appeal as a travel destination. “Emily in Paris is super positive in terms of attractiveness for the country,” he stated.
Idealized Paris vs. Reality
While the series has garnered a massive fan base for its glamorized portrayal of Parisian life, it has faced criticism for its departure from the realities of the city, particularly for its selective focus on the more affluent areas and avoidance of Paris’s poorer neighborhoods.
