In a fun twist of fate, People magazine has named John Krasinski as their 2024 “Sexiest Man Alive.” The announcement was made on Tuesday night during an appearance on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert. Along with the exciting reveal, the magazine shared a sneak peek of its latest cover on social media.
During the segment, Colbert humorously expressed his disappointment at not receiving the title himself. Krasinski, ever the charmer, quickly comforted Colbert, joking, “It’s okay, you’re not the Sexiest Man Alive, but who cares? Who is? Except for me, apparently.

Krasinski added to the fun with a hilarious, retro-style video reminiscent of ’80s infomercials, where he offered Colbert tips on how to be sexy. The clip even included a surprise cameo from Chris Evans, the previous Sexiest Man Alive.
Best known for his role as Jim Halpert in The Office, which he played for nine seasons, Krasinski has also proven his versatility in Hollywood. He directed and starred in the critically acclaimed A Quiet Place alongside his wife, actress Emily Blunt, and went on to direct the 2020 sequel. Additionally, he captivated audiences with his portrayal of Jack Ryan in the Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan series on Prime Video, which ran from 2018 to 2023. A film based on the series was announced last month.
In a light-hearted moment, Krasinski shared that when he told Emily Blunt about his new title, he couldn’t make out what she was saying due to “so much laughter” on the other end of the phone.
With this honor, Krasinski succeeds Grey’s Anatomy star Patrick Dempsey, who was named People’s 2023 Sexiest Man Alive.
