Jamie Foxx is recovering after an unexpected incident during his birthday dinner on Friday night left him injured.
“Jamie Foxx was at his birthday dinner when someone from another table threw a glass that struck him in the mouth,” Foxx’s spokesperson revealed. “He required stitches and is currently recovering. The police were contacted, and the matter is now being handled by law enforcement.”
Police Respond to the Scene
The Beverly Hills Police Department (BHPD) confirmed they responded to reports of “a possible assault with a deadly weapon” at Mr. Chow, a high-end restaurant located on Camden Drive. The incident occurred shortly after 10 p.m. However, while police reports did not specifically name Foxx, they clarified that “the reported assault with a deadly weapon was unfounded.”
Instead, the department stated that the altercation was a physical dispute between parties. Officers conducted a preliminary investigation and documented the battery. No arrests were made.
A Reminder of Past Health Struggles
This incident comes shortly after Foxx opened up about his serious health scare last year in his new Netflix special, Jamie Foxx: What Had Happened Was.
The actor posted on social media on Sunday morning, thanking fans for their support while promoting his special.
“The devil is busy… but I’m too blessed to be stressed,” Foxx wrote. “Thank you to everybody who prayed and checked on me… When your light shines bright, they try to bring you darkness, but they don’t know you’re built for it.”
Details of a Life-Threatening Health Crisis
In the Netflix special, Foxx revealed that he had suffered a brain bleed that led to a stroke in April 2023.
“It’s still a mystery,” the Academy Award-winning actor said. “We don’t know exactly what happened.”
Foxx recalled the day of the medical emergency, saying, “I had a bad headache and asked my boy for an aspirin. Before I could take it, I went out. I don’t remember the next 20 days.”
His sister played a crucial role in saving his life by driving him around Atlanta in search of a hospital. They eventually arrived at Piedmont Hospital, where doctors discovered the brain bleed.
Foxx recounted that doctors informed him he needed an immediate operation to survive. After undergoing surgery, he was told he might fully recover, but the journey would be grueling.
