The Pakistani American Voters Association (PAVA) hosted a landmark International Youth Day celebration at Elite Indo-Pak Restaurant, bringing together student activists, emerging leaders, and community voices for an evening of inspiration and collaboration. The event marked the first time PAVA dedicated an entire program to empowering youth leadership in Houston’s Pakistani-American community.

Vision from PAVA Leadership
PAVA President Abdul Rauf Khan opened the evening by sharing the organization’s mission and commitment to fostering future leaders. He emphasized that PAVA’s role extends beyond electoral participation, aiming to create pathways for youth to excel in politics, education, and public service.
Celebrating Young Achievers
The program showcased an exceptional roster of young leaders, including Bushra Amiwala, Fariz Afzal, Mishal Gardezi, Shehroze Kayani, Elsa Syed, Nisho Siddiqui, Misha Rafiq, Meena Peperani, and Azza Rizvi — each recognized for impactful work in fields ranging from civic engagement and educational reform to technology, health, environmental sustainability, and cultural development.

Interactive Dialogue
A debate and Q&A session, moderated by Judge Sonia Rash and Afshi Charania, encouraged open discussion on leadership, critical thinking, and active listening. Their insights and engagement resonated strongly with attendees.

Organizing Excellence
The event was coordinated by MC Qaiser Imam, with notable contributions from PAVA General Secretary Abdul Rehman Patel and team member Azam Akhtar, whose efforts were central to the program’s success.
As the evening concluded, organizers emphasized that the gathering was not an endpoint, but the beginning of a sustained movement for youth leadership in the Houston community.
