Indian actor Mushtaq Khan, famed for his role in Stree 2, was abducted in a ransom plot shortly after comedian Sunil Pal faced a similar ordeal, Indian media reported.
The Setup: Lured by a False Invitation
Khan, 50, accepted an invitation to an award show in Meerut on November 20, with promises of an advance payment and flight tickets. Upon landing in Delhi, he was forced into a car and driven to a remote area near Bijnor.

Captivity and Ransom Demand
The kidnappers held Khan captive for nearly 12 hours, torturing him while demanding a ransom of $120,000 (₹1 Crore). “They drained over $2,400 from his and his son’s accounts,” said Shivam Yadav, Khan’s business partner, in an interview with India Today.
Escape Amid Danger
Khan managed to escape in the early hours upon hearing the morning azaan from a nearby mosque. Seizing the opportunity, he sought help from locals and contacted the police, who ensured his safe return home.
Family and Legal Action
Khan’s family was deeply shaken by the ordeal. “Once he calmed down, we filed an FIR,” said Yadav. The team provided critical evidence, including flight tickets, bank records, and CCTV footage from the airport. Khan also identified the house where he was detained.
Possible Syndicate Behind the Crime
Police suspect the kidnappers are part of a larger criminal syndicate targeting public figures. “Two celebrities being kidnapped in a similar manner is alarming,” Yadav noted, referencing Sunil Pal’s recent experience.
Industry Calls for Enhanced Security
The incident has raised concerns about the safety of entertainment industry figures. “We hope authorities take stricter measures to protect everyone in the industry,” Yadav said.
Khan on the Road to Recovery
Mushtaq Khan is currently recovering from the trauma and is expected to address the media soon as investigations into the case continue.
