Indian actor, producer, and director Farhan Akhtar has officially confirmed long-standing rumors about a big-screen adaptation of the hit series Mirzapur. The announcement came on Monday morning via an Instagram video featuring the show’s lead cast members Pankaj Tripathi, Ali Fazal, and Divyenndu. In classic Mirzapur style, the actors revealed that the series will transition from the small screen to cinemas, inviting fans to experience the thrilling world of Mirzapur in theaters.

Teaser Hints at Familiar Faces and New Adventures

The teaser video not only confirmed Divyenndu’s return but also provided a glimpse of Abhishek Banerjee, although specific details about the complete cast are still under wraps. While it appears that the original cast will reprise their roles, speculation surrounding Hrithik Roshan potentially stepping into the role of Kaleen Bhaiya remains unaddressed by the creators.

A Deep Dive into the Criminal Underworld

The film adaptation of the Prime Video crime thriller will explore the power struggles and criminal dynamics of northern India’s heartland. Set for release in 2026, the project will be helmed by series creator Puneet Krishna, with Gurmmeet Singh, who directed 17 episodes of the original series, taking the reins as director.

Celebrating the Series’ Success

This film announcement comes on the heels of three successful seasons of Mirzapur on Amazon Prime Video. The first season premiered in 2018 and quickly captured audiences, followed by a second season released during the pandemic and a third season that garnered enthusiastic responses earlier this year.
