A delegation of 16 representatives from Business Incubation Centers across various universities in Punjab is currently visiting the United States under the Tabeer Exchange Program. This initiative aims to strengthen business incubation capabilities and introduce participants to global best practices in entrepreneurship.

Meeting with the Consul General in Los Angeles

As part of their visit to Silicon Valley, California, the delegation met with Mr. Asim Ali Khan, Consul General of Pakistan in Los Angeles, to explore collaboration opportunities in the IT and technology sectors.

Welcoming the delegation, Mr. Khan reaffirmed the Consulate’s commitment to advancing Pakistan’s IT industry and strengthening technology ties with the U.S. He emphasized that expanding Pakistan’s IT exports to the U.S. remains a strategic priority. The Consul General also highlighted the Consulate’s role in promoting trade, investment, research collaborations, and knowledge-sharing initiatives.

Pakistan’s IT Sector and Strategic Partnerships

He noted that the Consulate General of Pakistan in Los Angeles hosted the first-ever Pakistan-U.S. Tech Investment Conference in Silicon Valley in November 2024. He reiterated that the Consulate remains dedicated to supporting Pakistani entrepreneurs in expanding their presence in the U.S. tech sector.

Pakistan’s thriving IT industry offers significant opportunities for partnerships with Silicon Valley, he added. The delegation shared ideas on expanding Pakistan’s influence in industries such as healthcare, textiles, and business connectivity, with the Consulate welcoming their proposals and agreeing to explore further cooperation.

Strengthening Collaboration in Tech and Innovation

The delegation, consisting of professors and entrepreneurs from top Pakistani universities—including LUMS, UET Lahore, University of Gujrat, and Fatima Jinnah Women University—expressed gratitude to the Consul General for facilitating the engagement. They highlighted key insights from their visit, particularly in technological innovation and entrepreneurship.

Prominent entrepreneur and educator Mr. Naeem Zafar, who teaches entrepreneurship at the University of California, Berkeley, also participated in the meeting, contributing valuable expertise.

Additionally, members of the Los Angeles-based Pakistan-American Tech Council attended the session. They praised the delegation’s visit and offered their expertise and networks to support entrepreneurship and innovation in Pakistan.

Commitment to Future Growth and Innovation

The Consul General reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to strengthening its IT and tech ecosystem by connecting local entrepreneurs with industry leaders on the U.S. West Coast. The Consulate will continue to support initiatives that drive business growth, foster innovation, and encourage cross-border collaboration.
