The Consul General of Pakistan, Mr. Aamer Ahmed Atozai, attended a vibrant literary event titled “Urdu Adab aur Chai” hosted by the Brilliance Foundation of New Jersey. The gathering was organized to pay tribute to acclaimed Urdu poetess Humaira Rahman and to highlight the importance of Urdu as Pakistan’s national language and a vital cultural asset.
Recognition of Community Efforts
During his remarks, Consul General Atozai commended the Brilliance Foundation for its ongoing efforts to uplift the Pakistani American community through educational, cultural, and mental wellness initiatives. He particularly praised the foundation’s commitment to preserving and promoting the Urdu language and its rich literary tradition.

Urdu as a Cultural Bridge
Mr. Atozai underscored Urdu’s role as a unifying thread for Pakistanis worldwide, calling it a powerful bridge that connects diverse communities and regions. More than just a language of everyday life, he said, Urdu embodies centuries of literary, cultural, and historical legacy.
Call for Community Language Programs
To preserve this heritage, the Consul General encouraged community centers to introduce Urdu language programs tailored to the younger generation. Such initiatives, he noted, would help Pakistani American youth stay rooted in their culture, appreciate their linguistic heritage, and build a stronger sense of identity and pride.

Celebrating Heritage in the Diaspora
The event reflected a growing interest among the diaspora in cultural preservation and literary engagement. It served as a reminder of the crucial role language plays in maintaining national identity and fostering intergenerational connection.
