In response to recent media reports and public concerns regarding the Global Undergraduate Exchange Program (Global UGRAD) in Pakistan, the United States Educational Foundation in Pakistan (USEFP) issues the following statement to provide clarity and reaffirm its commitment to educational cooperation between the two nations.
Global UGRAD Program Continues with Adjustments
The Global UGRAD Program is currently undergoing adjustments. Despite these changes, the United States remains steadfast in strengthening people-to-people ties with Pakistan through ongoing academic exchanges. Currently, approximately 11,000 Pakistani students are studying in the United States, with more applicants welcomed each year seeking higher education opportunities.

USEFP confirms that all 54 Pakistani students currently participating in the Global UGRAD Program in the United States will complete their academic exchanges as scheduled. They will continue to receive their stipends and all associated program benefits without interruption.
Fulbright Program Operational and Fully Supported
Contrary to rumors, the prestigious Fulbright Program remains fully operational. All Fulbright participants, including those from Pakistan, are receiving their financial support as planned. USEFP categorically dismisses claims suggesting the program’s termination or any risks of students being stranded in the United States.
Strategic Review of Exchange Programs
The US Department of State is conducting a strategic global review of its exchange programs to better align them with current administrative priorities. USEFP assures the public that updates regarding the future of these initiatives will be communicated promptly as new details emerge.
Continued Opportunities for Pakistani Students
Despite recent adjustments, several US government-funded exchange opportunities, including the Fulbright Program, continue to provide valuable educational opportunities for Pakistani students and professionals.
