Following the release order for Bushra Bibi, additional security forces have been deployed at Adiala Jail in Rawalpindi. The jail administration is completing legal procedures after receiving the order.
Nine Months Behind Bars
Bushra Bibi, the wife of former Prime Minister Imran Khan, had spent nine months in jail. She was sentenced to 14 years in prison on January 31 this year in connection with the Toshakhana case. The Islamabad High Court (IHC) suspended her sentence, but she was re-arrested under new charges in the Toshakhana 2.0 case.
High Court Grants Bail
Yesterday, the Islamabad High Court granted bail to Bushra Bibi in the ongoing Toshakhana case. Justice Mian Gul Hassan Aurangzeb presided over the hearing and approved the bail, requiring Bushra Bibi to submit a bond of Rs 1 million.
This bail offers temporary relief, as Bushra Bibi faces accusations regarding the improper handling of state gifts.

No Further Investigation Required
During the hearing, Justice Aurangzeb questioned the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) about the necessity for further investigation. The FIA’s officer confirmed that no additional interrogation was required, prompting the judge to approve bail.
The court also discussed similar cases in other countries, mentioning that leaders like the British Prime Minister had also taken gifts home under certain regulations. Justice Aurangzeb further noted how countries like Azerbaijan display state gifts in museums, referencing Benazir Bhutto as the only Pakistani leader featured in such exhibits.

Corruption Allegations and Indictment Postponement
The Toshakhana case centers on allegations against Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi, who are accused of selling state gifts received from foreign dignitaries.
Indictment proceedings for both were initially set to occur on the same day but were postponed due to security concerns. The hearing, originally planned for Adiala Jail, was relocated to Islamabad’s Judicial Complex. Despite the change, security issues led to another delay, with the indictment now rescheduled for October 26.
