Police are searching for a burglar who made off with over £10 million ($12.5 million) worth of bespoke jewelry in what is being called one of the largest home thefts in British history.
Targeting a Luxury Residence
The burglary occurred on December 7 at a home on Avenue Road, a prestigious address in north-west London. According to the Metropolitan Police, the suspect entered the property around 5 p.m. local time (12 p.m. ET) through a second-floor window while the residents were away.

Stolen Valuables
The thief took a staggering £10.4 million in unique jewelry, £150,000 worth of Hermès Crocodile Kelly handbags, and £15,000 in cash. Among the stolen items were:
- A 10.73-carat diamond ring from Graff
- Two butterfly diamond rings from De Beers
- A 3.03-carat diamond ring, an aquamarine ring, and a necklace from Hermès
- A bracelet engraved with the name “Shafira”
- Chopard diamond earrings
- Various pieces from the French luxury brand Van Cleef & Arpels
Suspect Description
The burglar is described as a white man in his late 20s to 30s, who concealed his face during the incident. He was dressed in a dark hoodie, cargo pants, and a baseball cap.
Police Investigation
Detective Constable Paulo Roberts, leading the investigation, called the crime a “brazen offense.” He noted that the stolen items are both sentimental and uniquely designed, making them highly recognizable.
Csaba Virag, chief of staff to the family, stated that the break-in was likely carried out by a “lone wolf,” but selling the stolen items could require the involvement of a larger network.

Public Appeal
Authorities have shared images of some stolen items, urging the public to report any information that could assist in recovering the valuables. The Metropolitan Police emphasized the importance of identifying the thief, who reportedly carried an unknown weapon during the break-in.
This high-profile heist has left one of London’s wealthiest neighborhoods on edge, as investigators work to bring the perpetrator to justice.
