Apple announced the debut of its new artificial intelligence suite, named “Apple Intelligence,” across its premium iPhone, iPad, and Mac devices. This release represents Apple’s significant entry into the generative AI landscape.
The AI Race Heats Up
First teased in June, Apple is joining the ranks of US tech giants like Google, Microsoft, and Amazon, all of whom are aggressively investing in generative AI technologies reminiscent of ChatGPT.
Apple’s Vision for AI
“Apple Intelligence is generative AI delivered in a way that only Apple can provide, and we are thrilled about its potential to enhance our users’ experiences,” stated Apple CEO Tim Cook in a recent blog post.
Key Features of Apple Intelligence
The newly introduced features encompass advanced writing tools, enhanced photo search capabilities, and a more interactive Siri virtual assistant. Apple is also set to incorporate ChatGPT functionalities into its services by December.

Upcoming Features
By December, additional features will include the ability to create custom emojis and generate images from text prompts.
Device Compatibility
Initially, these capabilities will be available exclusively on the latest iPhones, iPads, and Mac computers.
Language Availability
Currently, Apple Intelligence features are limited to US English, with plans to introduce versions in Chinese, French, German, Italian, Spanish, Korean, and other languages over the next year.
Regulatory Challenges in the EU
At the June launch event, Apple postponed the introduction of Apple Intelligence in the European Union indefinitely due to “regulatory uncertainties” surrounding new legislation. However, the company has since announced that most features will be accessible on Mac computers in US English within the EU, with iPhones and iPads set to receive updates starting in April.
Comprehensive Toolset
Apple Intelligence includes features such as system-wide writing tools for text rewriting and proofreading, as well as the ability to eliminate unwanted elements from photos. These offerings align closely with tools recently launched by competitors like Meta, Microsoft, and Google.

Commitment to Privacy
In light of concerns regarding AI safety, Apple emphasized that its technology is designed to prioritize user privacy by conducting processing on-device or utilizing a new “Private Cloud” system. This approach ensures that personal data remains within the Apple ecosystem, reinforcing its commitment to data privacy.
New Hardware Announcement
Alongside the AI features, Apple also introduced a new desktop computer, the iMac, which will include Apple Intelligence capabilities.
