Renowned playback singer Abhijeet Bhattacharya, known for his iconic tracks in Shah Rukh Khan’s films, has finally addressed the long-standing speculation about a rift between him and the superstar. The singer, famous for hits like Tauba Tumhare Ishare, Tumhe Jo Maine Dekha, and Woh Ladki Jo, revealed that the fallout stemmed from feelings of being undervalued.
Feeling Undervalued Led to Fallout
Abhijeet shared that the tension began when he felt his contributions were not being properly acknowledged. In a candid interview with ANI, he explained, “When self-respect is hurt, you feel like saying, ‘Enough is enough.’ I wasn’t singing for him (Shah Rukh); I was singing for my work. But when I saw that they were acknowledging everyone–like a tea vendor who serves tea on set–but not acknowledging the singer, I felt, ‘Why should I be your voice?’”
Attempts to Resolve the Issue Failed
The singer revealed that the issue continued across multiple projects with Shah Rukh Khan. Despite efforts to address the matter through mutual acquaintances, it was never resolved to his satisfaction.

No Hard Feelings, But No Expectation of Reconciliation
When asked about the possibility of reconciliation, Abhijeet made it clear that while he doesn’t harbor any ill will towards Shah Rukh, he does not expect anything from him now. He stated, “It’s not that my relationship with SRK is broken, but Shah Rukh is now such a huge star that he’s no longer just a human being. Even he probably doesn’t realise the level he has reached. So why should I expect anything from him?”
Abhijeet: “We Are Both Scorpios, But I’m the Bigger One”
The veteran singer, who is a few years older than Shah Rukh Khan, added that at their age, an apology no longer holds much meaning. He emphasized, “I’m still the same person I was; I am growing in my own way. I’m 5-6 years older than him. He’s over 60, and I’m also in my 60s. There was no need for anyone to apologize. Both of us have egos. Our birthdays are just a day apart; we are both Scorpios. But I’m the bigger Scorpio. I don’t need him or his support.”
