Bollywood icon Kareena Kapoor Khan once again showcased her impeccable fashion sense at the opening night of the Raj Kapoor Film Festival in Mumbai on Friday. The event, held to commemorate her grandfather Raj Kapoor’s 100th birth anniversary, saw Kareena donning an elegant and traditional ensemble by renowned Pakistani designer Iqbal Hussain, as reported by Hindustan Times.
Known for her bold and glamorous choices on red carpets – like her stunning purple Oscar de la Renta gown featuring 3D appliquéd orchids at the Red Sea International Film Festival earlier this year – Kareena effortlessly transitioned to a more relaxed, yet refined ethnic look for this intimate occasion. Hussain’s design exuded a quiet luxury, perfectly blending nostalgia with contemporary style.
The ivory pure cotton silk kurta was the centerpiece of her look, highlighted by intricate details such as rust piping along the neckline and sides, complemented by delicate tassels. Paired with a matching ivory tissue shirt adorned with traditional gota work on the sleeves, the outfit reflected the finesse of South Asian craftsmanship.

Kareena completed her look with an ivory silk crushed pyjama, offering a soft, flowing silhouette. A matching dupatta with rust piping along all four sides and shimmering zari booties added the perfect touch of traditional glamour. The ensemble, priced at PKR 95,000 on Iqbal Hussain’s official website, stood as a testament to classic artistry meeting modern minimalism.
Stylist Lakshmi Lehr ensured Kareena’s look remained fresh yet timeless. Opting for understated makeup, Kareena glowed with a light base, softly lined kohl eyes, and a nude lip shade. Her soft waves elegantly framed her face, while layered necklaces brought a hint of vintage charm to the look.

Designer Iqbal Hussain himself celebrated Kareena’s appearance, sharing her look on Instagram and captioning it, “Ever so gorgeous Kareena Kapoor Khan exudes old-world charm in Iqbal Hussain at the showman Raj Kapoor’s 100th birth anniversary celebration.”
Meanwhile, Kareena’s cousin-in-law, Alia Bhatt, chose a classic Indian look by celebrated designer Sabyasachi. Alia wore a white saree featuring pastel floral prints and a soft lavender-pink border. Her statement pearl choker, with an emerald centerpiece, added a touch of elegance to her ensemble.
Both actors paid a beautiful tribute to Raj Kapoor’s legacy with their thoughtfully styled appearances, seamlessly blending tradition with timeless grace.
