Renowned Indian music composer AR Rahman has issued a strong legal warning to social media platforms and YouTubers spreading defamatory rumors about his personal life following the announcement of his separation from wife Saira Banu.
Rumors Link Rahman to Bassist Mohini Dey’s Divorce
Speculation intensified after Rahman and Saira Banu announced their separation around the same time bassist Mohini Dey divorced her husband, Mark. The coinciding events led to unfounded online rumors, prompting Rahman’s legal team to take action.
Legal Notice Condemns Baseless Allegations
In a strongly worded notice, Rahman’s team criticized the circulation of “calumny and defamatory write-ups,” accusing some platforms of fabricating stories about the couple’s private lives. The notice specifically targeted interviews and content discussing the “failure of their marriage.”
Immediate Removal of Content Demanded
The legal notice demanded the removal of objectionable content within a strict timeline. “Hatemongers and sharers of abusive content are required to remove the objectionable material within the next one hour, with a maximum deadline of 24 hours,” it warned.
Rahman Addresses the Issue Publicly
Rahman shared a screenshot of the legal notice on his social media with the caption, “Notice to all slanderers from ARR’s Legal Team,” signaling his firm stance against the spread of misinformation.
Call for Privacy During Difficult Times
Earlier, Rahman and Saira Banu released a joint statement announcing their separation and appealed for privacy during this sensitive period, urging fans to avoid speculation and respect their personal boundaries.
