The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has granted central contracts to 16 women cricketers for the 2024-25 season, effective from July 1, 2024.
Notable Exclusions
However, six players, including seasoned athletes Nida Dar, Aliya Riaz, and Shawaal Zulfiqar, have not had their contracts renewed. The PCB confirmed that these players will still be available for selection as the board focuses on developing emerging talent in line with the ICC Women’s Future Tours Programme 2025-29.
Promotions and New Additions
Captain Fatima Sana and wicketkeeper-batter Muneeba Ali have been promoted to Category A, recognizing their impressive recent performances. Left-arm spinner Sadia Iqbal has moved up to Category B following her strong form.
The new contract list introduces three newcomers: Gull Feroza, Rameen Shamim, and Tasmia Rubab, with Rubab achieving her first central contract. Feroza and Shamim return to the list after being absent since 2018 and 2022-23, respectively.
PCB’s Vision for Women’s Cricket
PCB Chief Operating Officer Sumair Ahmad Syed congratulated the promoted players and stated that the new contracts reflect the board’s strategy of investing in established talent while providing opportunities for emerging cricketers.
“Our goal is to develop a stronger, more competitive women’s team that can consistently perform at the highest level on the global stage,” Syed emphasized. “These contracts are designed to inspire the next generation of cricketers to dream big and push boundaries.”
