In a dramatic turn during his trial, Urfan Sharif, the father accused of murdering his 10-year-old daughter Sara Sharif, told jurors he “takes full responsibility” for her death.
Sharif, a 42-year-old minicab driver, previously called the police in the early hours of August 10, 2023, claiming that he had beaten Sara “too much” for being “naughty.” The court later heard that Sara’s body was discovered in a bunk bed at the family’s home in Woking, Surrey, with severe injuries including bruises, burns, broken bones, and bite marks. At the time of the discovery, Sharif and his family had fled to Pakistan.

Sharif, alongside his wife, Beinash Batool (30), and his brother, Faisal Malik (29), stands trial at the Old Bailey, where all three deny charges of murder.
During his testimony, Sharif admitted his guilt under cross-examination, saying, “I accept every single thing,” while Batool sobbed in the dock. Initially, Sharif had stated that he took responsibility to protect his family, but during his court appearance, he placed the blame for Sara’s death on his wife.
The trial is ongoing, and more details will be released as the case progresses.
