Texas Governor Greg Abbott has directed the Texas Division of Emergency Management (TDEM) to raise the readiness level of the State Emergency Operations Center (SOC) to Level III (Increased Readiness) as severe storms continue to threaten large parts of the state.

Emergency Resources Activated
“In preparation for severe weather, I activated additional emergency response personnel and resources to protect Texans and support communities responding across the state,” Governor Abbott said. He added that the readiness increase ensures rapid deployment of necessary resources. Texans are strongly urged to monitor weather conditions and develop emergency plans to protect themselves and their families. The governor reminded residents: “Turn Around, Don’t Drown.”
Severe Weather Forecast
The National Weather Service warns that strong to severe thunderstorms are expected to move across Texas from west to east, bringing damaging winds, large hail, potential tornadoes, heavy rainfall, and flash flooding through the weekend. Many areas could see more than 4 inches of rain, with some communities in North, East, and Southeast Texas facing totals exceeding 6 inches.
Safety Precautions
Authorities urge residents to stay alert, monitor local forecasts, and follow safety guidelines as the state braces for potentially dangerous weather conditions.
