The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s (NOAA) Climate Prediction Center has released its seasonal outlook for November 2025 through January 2026, reflecting weather patterns consistent with a strengthening La Niña across the United States.
According to the forecast, southern and southwestern states are expected to experience warmer-than-average temperatures, while northern regions may see cooler and wetter conditions typical of La Niña winters.

Meteorologists emphasize that “warmer-than-average” does not mean unusually hot weather — rather, temperatures are expected to be slightly milder than normal for this time of year.
“This outlook suggests a mixed winter ahead for much of the nation,” NOAA experts noted, highlighting that regional variations will play a key role in local weather impacts over the coming months.
The agency advises communities and local officials to stay informed as updated forecasts are released in the weeks ahead.
