The Pakistani-American community in Columbus came together to celebrate Pakistan’s Independence Day with a vibrant cultural event marked by national pride, unity, and reflection on the nation’s historic journey. The event drew a large number of community members and dignitaries, underscoring the strong ties of the diaspora to their homeland.

The Consul General of Pakistan in Chicago, Mr. Tariq Karim, joined the celebration virtually as the Chief Guest via Zoom. In his keynote address, he highlighted the historical significance of Pakistan’s independence, paying tribute to the immense sacrifices made during the creation of the country and the enduring resilience of its people.
Mr. Karim emphasized that this year’s Independence Day celebrations carried additional significance as they coincided with the commemoration of Marka-e-Haq — a tribute to the valiant Armed Forces of Pakistan and the unwavering spirit of the nation.

He also recognized the vital role played by the Pakistani-American diaspora in the socioeconomic development of both Pakistan and the United States. Encouraging the community to renew their commitment to Pakistan, Mr. Karim praised the organizers for their successful efforts in hosting the event and for promoting cultural unity within the diaspora.
The celebration featured cultural performances, national songs, and community participation, symbolizing the deep-rooted connection of Pakistani-Americans to their heritage while strengthening their bond with their adopted homeland.
