Ambassador of Pakistan to the United States, H.E. Rizwan Saeed Sheikh, was recognized on the California State Senate floor as the Senate unanimously passed a resolution celebrating positive Pakistan–U.S. ties. The resolution acknowledged Pakistan’s Independence Day, the historic friendship between the two countries, and the vital contributions of Pakistani-Americans to California — the world’s fourth-largest economy.

Profound gratitude was expressed to Senator Melissa Hurtado for sponsoring and introducing the resolution. The resolution highlighted the Pakistani-American community’s role in uplifting California, the strong cultural roots felt by younger generations, and the importance of further strengthening this positive relationship.

Ambassador Sheikh and the community were deeply touched by Senator Hurtado’s gesture of wearing Pakistani attire and traditional mehndi on her hands to mark the occasion. Appreciation was also extended to the Council of Pakistan for its consistent efforts in advancing Pakistan–U.S. friendship.
