Munawar Faruqui, the winner of Bigg Boss 17 and host of Playground season 4, is reportedly on the hit list of the Bishnoi gang, prompting Mumbai Police to increase security measures around the comedian. Sources revealed on Monday that following a perceived threat to his life, authorities have stepped up his protection.
A senior police officer confirmed, “We have provided him protection,” though no specific group has been officially linked to the threats. However, speculation points toward the Bishnoi gang. This comes after a previous incident in September when Munawar was removed from a Delhi event due to concerns about his safety. The Delhi Police’s Special Cell received intelligence about a possible attack, leading to his quick evacuation and safe return to Mumbai under police guard.
The threat emerged during an investigation into the murder of Delhi businessman Nadir Shah. A suspect arrested in the case informed authorities that they had been monitoring a hotel where Faruqui was supposed to stay while attending a match with fellow influencer Elvish Yadav.
In response to these threats, Mumbai Police continue to maintain heightened vigilance to ensure Faruqui’s safety.
In a separate but related development, security around Bollywood superstar Salman Khan has also been tightened following the murder of his close friend, politician Baba Siddique. According to Indian media, additional security personnel have been deployed at Khan’s residence in Mumbai. This comes amid concerns that Lawrence Bishnoi, a notorious gangster, may be linked to Siddique’s murder. The Bishnoi gang has previously threatened Khan and demanded an apology for his involvement in the blackbuck poaching case. Khan was seen visibly distressed after visiting Siddique’s family to offer condolences.
