Rizwan Saeed Sheikh, Ambassador of Pakistan to the United States, paid a visit to the headquarters of SpaceX, the renowned American aerospace and technology company, located in Los Angeles. He was accompanied by Asim Ali Khan, Consul General of Pakistan in Los Angeles, along with senior officials from the Consulate.
This visit marks a significant step in Pakistan’s broader diplomatic outreach to foster partnerships in innovation, space technology, and digital infrastructure with leading American enterprises.

During the visit, the Ambassador was given a detailed briefing on potential areas of collaboration between Pakistan and SpaceX. A key focus of the discussion was Starlink—SpaceX’s low-Earth orbit satellite internet project—and its relevance to Pakistan’s digital future.
SpaceX executives, including the Vice President of Starlink Global Business Operations and the Director of Global Business Development, outlined how Starlink’s advanced satellite infrastructure can help Pakistan expand high-speed internet coverage across the country, particularly in remote and underserved areas.
The Pakistani delegation was offered a guided tour of SpaceX facilities, where they observed the company’s groundbreaking work in aerospace, telecommunications, and satellite manufacturing. The experience provided firsthand exposure to the innovative technologies that are redefining global connectivity and space exploration.
Ambassador Sheikh emphasized the transformative impact that Starlink’s services could have in closing Pakistan’s digital divide. He noted that access to reliable and fast internet is essential for inclusive development, digital literacy, e-governance, and economic growth, especially in rural and geographically isolated regions.
Reaffirming Pakistan’s commitment to innovation-led progress, the Ambassador called for sustained engagement between the two sides to advance mutual goals in technology and commercial development.
The meeting with SpaceX is part of Ambassador Sheikh’s broader visit to California, where he is actively engaging with key private sector stakeholders to build strong, future-ready partnerships between the United States and Pakistan. His focus remains on facilitating technology transfer, fostering startup collaborations, and exploring new avenues for economic cooperation in sectors such as ICT, space sciences, and emerging technologies.
Ambassador Sheikh expressed appreciation for SpaceX’s warm welcome and the forward-looking discussions. He expressed hope that this engagement would pave the way for concrete initiatives in satellite internet, digital infrastructure, and broader commercial innovation between Pakistan and the U.S.
