The Florida community is grieving the tragic loss of Kadance Fredericksen, the reigning Miss Okaloosa County Teen USA 2024 and a Miss Florida Teen USA 2024 delegate. The 18-year-old died in a fatal traffic collision on February 17 in Santa Rosa County, Florida, authorities confirmed.
Fatal Collision on Florida State Road 4
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the accident occurred at 1:30 p.m. when Kadance’s sedan collided head-on with a tractor-trailer after merging into the eastbound lane from the westbound lane for unknown reasons. She was pronounced dead at the scene, while the 56-year-old driver of the truck sustained minor injuries.

A Bright Future Cut Short
Kadance’s family shared their heartbreak with WKRG News 5, revealing that she had been accepted into nine universities and aspired to become a veterinarian. Describing her as “absolutely perfect”, they said she had “the whole world at the palm of her hands.”
The Miss Florida USA organization also expressed their sorrow over her passing. “It is with profound sadness and a heavy heart that we share the passing of one of our beloved delegates, Kadance Fredericksen,” they wrote on Instagram. “Our pageant community has lost a beautiful soul—one who was a true light in this world. She was ambitious, driven, kind, and a leader among her pageant sisters.”
A Legacy of Compassion: “Kada’s Promise”
Beyond her pageant career, Kadance was deeply committed to philanthropy. In 2017, she founded “Kada’s Promise”, a nonprofit dedicated to providing comfort objects to children in challenging living situations—a cause inspired by her own difficult childhood.
“The only thing that made me feel safe was a single teddy bear that I received as a gift,” she wrote in her organization’s mission statement. “I carried him with me from house to house, couch to couch, and clutched him tightly in the scariest times. It is from these memories that Kada’s Promise was born.”

On her nonprofit’s website, Kadance called “Kada’s Promise” her greatest accomplishment, writing: “It is my life’s story.”
Her untimely passing leaves behind a legacy of kindness, resilience, and dedication to helping others—one that will continue to inspire those who knew and admired her.
