According to NDTV, a 21-year-old American girl, Celia, was reunited with her long-lost Chinese friend, Simon, after seven years, thanks to the power of social media.
Celia’s Emotional Plea on Chinese Social Media
In her search for Simon, Celia turned to RedNote, a Chinese social media app similar to TikTok. She posted an emotional video, explaining that during 2017-2018, she attended a private Catholic school in Iowa, where she became best friends with Simon, a Chinese exchange student. However, after he returned to China, they lost contact.
Appealing to RedNote users, she urged them to help her find Simon and left a heartfelt message for him:
“Simon, I miss you and our friendship.”
Chinese Community Unites to Help
Celia’s plea touched the Chinese online community, who rallied together to assist in her search. She even shared an old photo of Simon, which eventually reached someone who recognized him.
The Moment of Reunion
A few hours later, a comment appeared under Celia’s post. It was from Simon himself!
“Hello everyone, I am Simon. I never imagined I would reconnect with my dear old friend in this way. Huge thanks to everyone on RedNote who helped!”
This heartwarming reunion story highlights the incredible power of social media in bringing people together, even across continents and years apart.
