Cameron Diaz has made her return to the film industry after a decade-long break, and she’s already talking about future projects. In an interview with “Access Hollywood” promoting her new Netflix film “Back In Action”, co-starring Jamie Foxx, Diaz expressed interest in a possible sequel to “The Mask” (1994), the film that helped launch her career.
Diaz Says She’s Ready for “The Mask” Sequel, but Only with Carrey
Diaz, who starred as Tina Carlyle opposite Jim Carrey’s Stanley Ipkis, said she would be open to revisiting the iconic role if Carrey was involved.
“If Jim’s on board,” Diaz stated. “I mean, I’ve been riding those coattails from day one.”
In “The Mask”, Carrey’s character comes into possession of a magical mask that transforms him into a chaotic, larger-than-life figure, while Diaz’s Tina is a nightclub singer and love interest.

Jim Carrey Open to Sequel, But on One Condition
In December 2024, Carrey spoke to Comicbook.com and revealed that he would return for a sequel if the concept was right.
“It’s not really about the money. I joke about the money… But I never know. You can’t be definite about these things,” Carrey said. He added that while he’d previously mentioned retiring, he wasn’t fully stepping away, saying, “As soon as a good idea comes your way, or a group of people that you really enjoyed working with, things tend to change.”
Diaz Open to Returning for “Charlie’s Angels” Sequel
In addition to “The Mask,” Diaz expressed interest in another beloved role, her character from “Charlie’s Angels” (2000), where she starred alongside Drew Barrymore and Lucy Liu.
“I’m gonna text [Lucy Liu] right now and pitch her Jamie [Foxx] as Bosley,” Diaz joked.
“Back In Action” Now Streaming on Netflix
Diaz’s new movie, “Back In Action”, is now available to stream on Netflix, marking her return to the big screen after her break from acting.
