Famous YouTuber and philanthropist Jimmy Donaldson, widely known as MrBeast, revealed on Wednesday that he proposed to his girlfriend, Thea Booysen.
Donaldson shared the joyous news on Instagram with a photo of the proposal, captioning it, “Ya boy did a thing,” as he knelt to pop the question.
Festive Proposal with Family Present
Booysen told People magazine that Donaldson proposed on Christmas Day during a family celebration. “Both our families were there—mine flew in from South Africa—and we were opening presents at home. For the last gift, he asked me to close my eyes because it was a surprise,” she shared.
Booysen said she “of course” said yes and showcased her sparkling diamond engagement ring in an Instagram video. The couple wore matching MrBeast-themed Christmas sweaters, adding a festive touch to the special moment.
A Love Story That Began in South Africa
Donaldson and Booysen first met in 2022 in South Africa through a mutual friend. Recalling their first encounter, Donaldson said, “When we met, it was immediately clear how brilliant Thea is. I knew within minutes that I wanted the chance to date her.”
Their relationship became public later that year when they attended the Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards together and confirmed their romance on Instagram.
