Due to security concerns, Karachi Airport and its surrounding areas have been designated as a red zone with restricted access, Media News reported.
Restricted Access and Increased Security
Entry routes to the airport have been limited, allowing only passengers, staff, and those with valid reasons for being there. This move follows recent incidents, including a suicide attack targeting a convoy of Chinese engineers near the airport and a shooting involving luxury vehicles on Shara-e-Faisal.
New Security Checkpoints Established
SSP Malir, Kashif Aftab Abbasi, announced that security has been significantly enhanced. Police checkpoints have been set up at five strategic points around the airport: Stargate, CAA Club, Madam Bridge, Model Colony Junction, and the Rangers’ Checkpoint near the Funeral Area. These will be manned by officers around the clock, who will inspect vehicles and individuals to deter suspicious activities.
“Police personnel will be on duty 24/7 at these checkpoints, scrutinizing all suspicious persons and vehicles to prevent any unusual activity,” Abbasi confirmed, emphasizing the police’s commitment to public safety.

Advisories for Travelers and Residents
Passengers are advised to arrive at the airport early to ensure they have enough time for security checks. Abbasi emphasized that travelers should carry both their flight tickets and national ID for verification when entering the red zone.
Local residents, particularly those from M-9 Motorway, Malir Cantonment, Memon Goth, Model Colony, and surrounding areas, are urged to use alternative routes such as Main Shahrah-e-Faisal and Malir Halt instead of passing through the red zone when heading toward the city. Similarly, those traveling from Drigh Road to Malir Cantonment or Model Colony should opt for Malir Halt rather than Stargate or CAA Club Road.
Commitment to Safety
“Our top priority remains the safety of passengers and secure travel,” Abbasi said, reinforcing that the Malir District Police are dedicated to maintaining peace and security. He assured the public that police support is available 24/7 to help navigate the new restrictions and ensure safe transit.
