The 73rd Miss Universe competition will take place on Saturday, November 16, in Mexico City, promising a spectacular celebration. This event will crown the successor to the current titleholder, Sheynnis Palacios of Nicaragua.
Preliminary Events Leading Up to the Finale
Before the semifinalists grace the stage at Arena Ciudad de Mexico, several preliminary events will allow judges and voters to choose their favorites. These activities will determine the 30 women who will compete in the final.
Global Participation
This year’s pageant will feature 130 contestants from around the world, all vying for the title of Miss Universe 2024.

Changes in Format
In a departure from previous editions, there will be no gala runway show during the preliminary phase. Instead, the focus will be on showcasing the contestants’ national costumes and swimwear presentations.
Selection Process for Finalists
During the preliminaries, a selection committee will evaluate the participants and choose 25 of the 30 finalists. Additionally, four finalists will be selected regionally, representing Latin America and the Caribbean, Europe, Africa, and Asia and Oceania. The final spot in the group of 30 will be determined through a public vote.
Countdown to the Competition
The 130 Miss Universe participants have begun their journey in Mexico City, with the competition culminating on the evening of November 16. By the conclusion of the event, one contestant will be crowned Miss Universe 2024, taking on the role of ambassador for beauty and goodwill for the year 2025.
