A Georgia election worker, 25-year-old Nicholas Wimbish from Milledgeville, has been arrested for allegedly creating a fake bomb threat in retaliation for a dispute that took place during early voting.
Incident Linked to Verbal Altercation with Voter
Wimbish, who was employed as a poll worker at the Jones County Election Office in Gray, reportedly got into a verbal altercation with a voter. Following this incident, he drafted a threatening letter, falsely attributing it to a “Jones County Voter” and sending it to the election superintendent.
Threatening Letter Accuses Voter of Election Misconduct
According to reports from The Mirror US, Wimbish’s fabricated letter accused the voter of “conspiring votes” and “distracting voters from concentrating.” The letter contained a disturbing threat, strategically placed at the end, warning that individuals “should look over their shoulder” and claiming knowledge of where they lived based on home voting addresses he had accessed.
Wimbish Attempts to Frame Voter for His Actions
Court records reveal that during interviews with authorities, Wimbish attempted to blame the voter for the threatening letter he had concocted. As a result of his actions, he has been charged with multiple offenses, including lying to FBI agents, mailing a bomb threat, conveying false information about a bomb threat, and sending a threatening letter.
