In a breakthrough for Indian law enforcement, U.S. authorities have informed Mumbai Police about the presence of Anmol Bishnoi—linked to a shooting incident near Bollywood actor Salman Khan’s residence—on American soil. Acting quickly, the Mumbai Police have initiated the process to extradite the 25-year-old Bishnoi, who is also implicated in several other high-profile cases.
Extradition Efforts Gain Momentum
Last month, Mumbai Police submitted a petition to a special court, requesting authorization to begin formal extradition proceedings. On October 16, the court was notified of the police’s intent to bring Bishnoi back to India to face charges, especially in connection to the Salman Khan incident.

Bishnoi’s Alleged Operations for Gangster Lawrence Bishnoi
According to a senior police official, Anmol Bishnoi has allegedly been managing operations on behalf of his elder brother, Lawrence Bishnoi, currently held in Gujarat’s Sabarmati Jail. In October, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) placed a reward of Rs 10 lakh on Anmol Bishnoi, adding him to its most-wanted list.
Bishnoi’s Criminal Network and International Presence
Anmol Bishnoi, also known as Bhanu, is suspected of orchestrating criminal activities from abroad, reportedly living in Canada and frequently visiting the U.S. He has been implicated in a series of violent acts, including the recent murder of former Maharashtra minister Baba Siddique in Mumbai’s Bandra neighborhood on October 12.

Court Denies Bail to Associates
In connection with the April shooting incident near Salman Khan’s residence, a Mumbai court recently denied bail to one of two accused, citing that the act was committed with “intention or knowledge” to harm Khan under Anmol Bishnoi’s direction. Both Anmol and Lawrence Bishnoi, originally from Fazilka in Punjab, remain wanted in the case.
