27 Companies to Showcase at Events in China Around 27 companies from Pakistan’s leather and fisheries sectors will participate in major roadshows across China, scheduled for October 29 in Qingdao and November 5 in Guangzhou. The roadshows aim to strengthen business-to-business ties with China, a crucial economic ally, as Islamabad seeks to boost its economic recovery through foreign investments and partnerships, according to the privatization ministry.

Pakistan’s Efforts to Attract Foreign Investment In a bid to overcome its ongoing economic challenges, Pakistan has been actively pursuing investment and business collaborations with key regional players, including China. Recently, the Chinese prime minister visited Pakistan, leading a high-level delegation, where both nations signed various agreements aimed at enhancing trade, business, and investment cooperation.
Participation from Pakistani Fisheries and Leather Companies The privatization ministry revealed that 30 representatives from 17 Pakistani fisheries companies, along with 16 executives from 10 leather companies, will be participating in these roadshows. This reflects the ongoing business-to-business initiatives between the two countries, particularly in sectors like leather and fisheries.
Privatization Minister’s Vision for Economic Growth During a meeting chaired by Privatization Minister Abdul Aleem Khan, the progress of Pakistan-China business relations was reviewed. Khan emphasized that seven major sectors—leather, textiles, medical and surgical equipment, fruits, vegetables, plastics, fisheries, and animal feed—have the potential to be game-changers for Pakistan’s economy.
Boosting Business Ties and Industrial Transfer The minister also highlighted the collaboration between organizations from both countries aimed at enhancing business relations. “A total of 168 Chinese companies and 78 Pakistani firms are currently working together, and Pakistan should seize the opportunity to benefit from the transfer of industries from China,” the ministry’s statement said.
Strong Participation from Pakistani Firms Leading Pakistani organizations expressed their commitment to participating in the roadshows. “Executives from prominent Pakistani companies attended the high-level meeting and assured full participation in both roadshows,” the ministry confirmed.
China’s Investment: A Lifeline for Pakistan Chinese investment has played a vital role in supporting Pakistan’s struggling economy since 2013, particularly through financial assistance like loan rollovers, which have helped Islamabad manage its external financing obligations amidst declining foreign reserves.
China-Pakistan Economic Corridor: A Key Project China’s investments in Pakistan exceed $65 billion, primarily in road infrastructure and development projects under the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), a crucial component of Beijing’s larger Belt and Road Initiative.
