Andrew Garfield’s cardboard cutout of co-star Florence Pugh was the perfect addition to his red carpet look.
Last night, British actor Andrew Garfield made a splash at the London Film Festival premiere of his latest film, “We Live in Time.” Instead of just wearing a stylish yellow paisley opera scarf, he surprised everyone with a lifesize cutout of Florence Pugh as his accessory.
Cradling the cardboard figure like a beloved clutch, Pugh’s two-dimensional likeness added a playful twist to Garfield’s ensemble. He sported a custom ‘70s-inspired Valentino suit in a rich peacock hue, paired with a bold floral silk shirt. His black leather Valentino loafers matched his belt perfectly, but it was the 5-foot-4-inch cardboard companion that truly stole the spotlight. Throughout the night, Garfield joyfully posed with Pugh, wrapping his arm around her flat figure as if she were right there beside him.

The real Florence Pugh couldn’t make it to the premiere due to filming commitments, but she took to Instagram to share photos of Garfield with her cutout, calling the gesture “genius.” This isn’t the first time a celebrity has used cardboard to evoke a colleague’s presence; back in 2010, Will Ferrell showed up at a “Megamind” panel at Comic-Con with a cutout of Brad Pitt, who was rumored to be attending. There’s even a growing trend in the U.S. where students are choosing cardboard replicas of celebrities as their prom dates, leaving traditional corsages behind.
For anyone questioning whether Garfield’s cardboard companion counts as an accessory, fashion designer Michael Kors defines an accessory as the “exclamation mark of a man or woman’s outfit.” In this case, a co-star cutout might just be the loudest statement of all!
