FEMA’s Assistance Field Teams are on the ground in communities affected by the severe storms, flooding and remnants of Typhoon Halong that struck Alaska from Oct. 8 to 13. These teams are meeting directly with residents to help them register for FEMA Individual Assistance and to provide guidance on available recovery support.

Federal Coordinating Officer Willie Nunn said the goal is to ensure disaster-stricken families can easily access the help they need. He emphasized that teams are entering impacted villages so survivors can continue moving forward with their recovery. After residents register, FEMA inspectors will meet with applicants to assess damage to homes and personal belongings. All FEMA personnel will carry official federal identification and will never ask for payment at any time.
Survivors who cannot meet a field team in person still have other options. They can register by calling the Alaska Call Center at (866) 342-1699.
