Pakistan’s Ambassador to the United States, Rizwan Saeed Sheikh, has underscored the positive momentum in Pakistan-US relations, particularly in the realms of counterterrorism cooperation and economic engagement. He made these remarks during an informal yet impactful gathering hosted by renowned Pakistani-American community leader Dr. Rao Kamran at his residence in Dallas, Texas.
Ambassador Sheikh revealed that significant discussions on counterterrorism are on the horizon between Pakistan and the United States, with both nations preparing for renewed collaboration. He attributed this diplomatic breakthrough to recent high-level meetings between President Donald Trump and Pakistan’s Chief of Army Staff, General Asim Munir. “These meetings have opened new avenues for bilateral engagement and mutual cooperation,” said the Ambassador.

The event brought together notable figures from the Pakistani-American community, including Democratic leader and entrepreneur Tahir Javed, Pakistan’s Consul General Aftab Chaudhry, and other professionals and community members.
In response to a question from the audience, Ambassador Sheikh clarified Pakistan’s policy on Israel, affirming that there is no external pressure from the United States on Pakistan to recognize Israel. “Pakistan’s position remains consistent with the vision of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah regarding Palestine. Our principled stance continues to guide our foreign policy,” he stated.
On the economic front, the Ambassador spoke about ongoing negotiations aimed at securing exemptions for Pakistan from additional US tariffs. He noted that while the process is complex and requires time, the progress so far has been encouraging.
Adding to the evening’s significance, Pakistan’s Federal Minister for Planning, Development & Special Initiatives, Chaudhry Ahsan Iqbal, addressed attendees via video link. He provided insights into Pakistan’s political landscape, economic direction, and defense posture, reinforcing the importance of continued diaspora engagement.
Concluding his remarks, Ambassador Rizwan Saeed Sheikh expressed confidence in the evolving partnership between Pakistan and the United States. He emphasized that dialogues covering counterterrorism and emerging economic dimensions are actively underway and signal a hopeful trajectory for future relations.
